Allez Monfils! History does NOT repeat itself. France rejoices that after 70 years it can finally look at Germany and say “SCOREBOARD!”

Blitzkrieg THIS... biatch!

Blitzkrieg THIS... biatch!

Alright, EPR promises to move on from tennis…soon…but not quite yet, not now.  Not when mon frere Gael Monfils has just emerged from four years of futility and frustration to win his first ATP title since 2005.  Monfils defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber 7-6 (1), 3-6, 6-2 to win the Open de Moselle. And he did it in his own backyard.  On French soil.  Against a German.  Just chew on that for a minute.  Yeah…pretty awesome, isn’t it?  The specter of history can loom ominous over a man’s psyche… but Gael Monfils stared 70 years of national shame straight in the face… and gave it the finger.  ¡Felicitaciones compañero!  We eagerly await a France-Germany rematch in next year’s Davis Cup!
